Axis Physiotherapy services Slough offers Trigger Point Acupuncture.
Trigger point acupuncture :- In myofascial dysfunction, there can be build up of Acetylcholine and Calcium resulting in painful taut band in the muscle, causing pain and dysfunctional movements.
Trigger point acupuncture dissipates these chemicals, resulting in relaxation of these muscles, and restoring normal movements. Trigger point acupuncture has very beneficial effects in sports injuries, chronic and acute conditions, including arthritic hips and knees.

Axis Physiotherapy Services Slough are trained in Traditional Acupuncture and is a member of of the British Acupuncture Council and is also trained in modern Acupuncture and is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
Acupuncture is very effective in treating acute and chronic conditions, by assisting the body to release its own pain killers and neurotransmitters such as Serotonin, which sometimes called ‘’happy hormone’’
Due to this effect patients often feel a sense of relaxation, and well being.
As a Traditional acupuncturists I also believe, that Acupuncture removes the blockage of energy ’’QI’’ and regulates its flow ,thereby accentuating healing process.
The effects of Acupuncture are cumulative. The number of treatments you require will depend on several factors, such as the duration and extent of your condition and how quickly your body can heal.
You may get benefit after one session of treatment but often a course of 6 to8 sessions is recommended.

CSP Physiotherapy Framework
Definition of Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a health care profession that works with people to identify and maximise their ability to move and function. Functional movement is a key part of what of what it means to be healthy. This means that physiotherapy plays a key role in enabling people to improve their health, well being and quality of life.
Physiotherapists recognise that physical, psychological, social and environmental factors can limit movement and function. They use their knowledge and skills to identify what is limiting an individual’s movement and performance, and help individuals decide how to address their needs.
Physiotherapy’s values means that practice is person -centred, ethical and effective. The Royal Charter gives physiotherapy a broad scope of practice that includes manual therapy, exercise and movement, electro therapy, acupuncture, massage and other physical approaches.
Physiotherapy is an autonomous profession, this means that physiotherapists can accept referrals for assessment from range of sources: from an individual or from other people involved with that individual.

Sciatica is a set of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression and/or inflammation of one of five spinal nerve roots that give rise to each sciatic nerve, or by compression or inflammation of the left or right or both sciatic nerves. The pain is felt in the lower back, bottom, and/or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes can be severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg. Typically, the symptoms are only felt on one side of the body. The pain can be also be severe in prolonged exposure to cold weather.

Although sciatica is a relatively common form of low back pain and leg pain, the true meaning of the term is often misunderstood. Sciatica is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is inflammation of the root of the nerve, causing the pain. This point is important, because treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms will often be different, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms.

Neck pain is a very common problem, with two-thirds of the country having neck pain at some point in their lifetime.
Neck pain, although felt in the neck, can be caused by a number of other spinal problems. Neck pain may arise due to muscular tightness in both the neck and upper back, and squeezing of the nerves originate from the cervical vertebrae. Joint separation in the neck creates pain, as does joint separation in the upper back.

The head is supported by the lower neck and upper back, and it is these areas that commonly cause neck pain. The top three joints in the neck allow for most movement of your neck and head. The lower joints in the neck and those of the upper back create a supportive structure for your head to sit on. If this support system is affected negatively, then the muscles in the area will tighten, leading to neck pain.

Treatment of neck pain depends on the cause. For the vast majority of people, neck pain can be treated conservatively. Recommendations which may help alleviate symptoms include applying heat or cold. Other common treatments could include medication, body mechanics training, ergonomic reform, or physical therapy. At Axis Physio Slough we can assist in diagnosing your neck pain problem and recommending the right course of action to take.

Back pain is pain felt in the back that usually originates from any of the following the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the spine.
The pain can often be separated into neck pain, upper back pain, lower back pain or tailbone pain. It may have a unexpected onset or can be a chronic pain; it can be constant or intermittent, stay in one place or branch out to other areas. It may be a dull ache, or a sharp or piercing or burning sensation. The pain may expand into the arm and hand, in the upper back, or in the low back, and might flow into the leg or foot, and may include symptoms other than pain, such as weakness, numbness or a tingling sensation.
Back pain is one of the most frequent complaints that effect working adults and nine out of ten adults experience some form of back pain during their lifetime. One of the most common types of back pain is acute lower back pain known as lumbago
The spine is a complex interconnecting network of nerves, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and all are capable of producing pain. Large nerves that originate in the spine and go to the legs and arms can make pain radiate to other parts of your body!
At Axis Physio based in Slough Berkshire cab assist in the treatment of back pain and related problems that can occur from having any of the above symptoms.
